New Patient Information

Thank you for choosing Community Dental Clinic! As a new patient, here is what you can expect.

What to Expect at Your First Appointment

MINor Patients:

For patients 17 years of age and under, the first appointment scheduled in our office is generally 50-60 minutes in length, and consists of the following:

  • Comprehensive Exam

  • Digital Diagnostic Radiographs (x-rays)

  • Charting

  • Oral Cancer Screening

  • Cleaning & Flouride Application

The patient will leave our office with a proposed treatment plan and costs associated with that treatment. For young patients, this gives the clinical providers the opportunity to assess patient needs for follow-up care appointments to ensure that the proper attention is given when scheduling.

This also gives the young and often apprehensive child an opportunity to establish a relationship with the dental team before returning for more intensive treatment. Parents also enjoy the ability to review radiographs with the dental team, learn about techniques to better oral health, and ask questions.

Adult patients:

For patients 18 years of age and older, the first appointment in our office is typically 90 minutes in length and consists of the following:

  • Comprehensive Exam

  • Digital Diagnostic Radiographs (x-rays)

  • Charting

  • Periodontal & Oral Cancer Screening

The patient will leave our office with a proposed treatment plan and costs associated with that treatment. Because adults have varying degrees of oral health, we reappoint the patient for follow-up care based on their oral health assessment. This ensures that the patient is given the proper time needed to perform high-quality dental treatment.

Insurance

We are an in-network provider for:

  • Traditional Medicaid (children 17 & under)

  • Plain Church Group Ministries

  • Children with Special Healthcare Services

Payment Methods

For services not covered or submitted to insurance, we accept cash, check, and Visa and Mastercard. We do ask for payment at the time of service for non-established patients.

Premedication Patients

The American Heart Association and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons have determined that there are some conditions that require antibiotic premedication prior to specific dental procedures. Some of these conditions include, but are not limited to:

  • Unrepaired cyanotic congenital heart disease, including palliative shunts and conduits

  • Repaired congenital heart disease with residual defects at the site or adjacent site of a prosthetic patch or device.

  • Completely repaired congenital heart defect with prosthetic material or device, whether surgically placed or by catheter intervention, during the first 6 months after the procedure

  • Artificial joints

If you have or have had any of these conditions, please alert our office as soon as possible prior to your visit. We will send a medical consultation to your physician for guidance preceding any dental treatment due to associated health risks. Failure to alert the dental team may result in the appointment needing to be rescheduled. We apologize for any inconvenience.
